2014 Family Photoshoot

November 8, 2014 in Kids / Lifestyle

With barely a few months left in 2014, it was time for us to have our annual family photos taken.

WHO

Highly recommended by some of my MOBsters, we got Natsuki Photography to do our family photoshoot this year. I like that they came well prepared with toys to keep the kids entertained and amused, and are really good at playing with kids themselves! Cos y’ know..if you can’t win the kids over, the photoshoot is going to be one uphill task.

WHEN

Early mornings are the best. The kids are in their prettiest moods in the morning. The parents restart their engines and reset their level of tolerance for whining. The weather is not that warm yet. Everyone’s in a good state of mind.

WHERE

We had used popular spots like the Botanic Gardens and Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden in the previous years.

To get a slightly different feel this time round, I decided on Fort Canning Park!

WHAT (TO WEAR)

Instead of the more casual and relaxed get-up we had for the last two shoots, I thought we could go a little dressier this time round. The kids have a matching set of clothes from MissyMessy which I’ve been keeping for a special occasion. And this is a special occasion, yes?

To match my lil’ dragonlady, I wore one of the modern cheongsams I bought for CNY this year. This cheongsam is definitely getting more mileage than I expected.

Mental note to self: get more for next CNY!

HOW

We decided that we still preferred the photoshoot done outdoors and it should be more fun now that both kids are able to run about on their own.

Still my best tip to share – bring someone your kids are familiar with to help you out with the photoshoot! This holds true especially for outdoor shoots. Always good to have the familiar face to draw out more smiles from the kids, an extra pair of hands to help with the carrying of props or kids, and extra pair of eyes to watch the kids.

Bubbles are a sure hit with the kids. I brought along one bubble gun and so did our photographer. Worked perfectly cos the kids didn’t have to fight over who gets the bubble gun!

Inspired by all the beautiful floral arrangements I’ve seen on my Instagram, I got one of our MOBsters to put together two bunches of blooms for the lil’ dragonlady and myself.

It was a sign of too much Pinterest-ing when I decided to prepare my own props like this:

(letters and crate from TYPO, blooms from lilacpetalslove, mason jars from ModCloth, picnic sheet from Daiso)

…and made my husband and kids pose with these:

Oh, and since we don’t have to carry a baby around much this year..I requested for some couple shots!

Till next year!
