Cub’s a moviegoer now!

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m very pleased to announce that my cub has moved onto the phase where he can sit through an animation movie! The husb and I were frequent movie-goers during our pre-kids days and I did get my occasional movie nights off when I was a SAHM. But as a FTWM now and knowing how exhausting it is to take care of my kids, I try my best to return home as soon as possible to take over from my folks every day. Hence it’s been a long long time since we last watched any movies. We didn’t even catch blockbusters like Iron Man 3!!

Imagine our delight when the cub sat through the whole animation film for the first time. To make sure it wasn’t a fluke, we brought him to another and another! I just wanna make sure he really got it.

I did some preparation work with him before every movie we go to. Getting him to watch the trailers is a great way to get the cub interested in the movie. I would watch the trailers with him, highlight funny parts and have a good laugh with him. The familiarity of these scenes when he watches them at the cinema adds to the experience. 😉

Like most 2+year-olds, he prefers to make decisions for himself. So if he says “no” to a movie, I would show him trailers of two different movies and let him choose which he would prefer to watch. He would then look forward to the movie since he was the one who chose it.

Now..just to make sure we can get the dragonlady to nap during the movies!

Heh, so what movie did Thad watch? Sophie has gone for three movies and I’m taking her to Planes soon! She started at 3 plus and loves it now.

Actually, we started him off with Madagascar 3 when he was about 28mo. But he dozed off during the show. Then he fussed during Ice Age 4 and the husb had to bring him out every now and then.

The 3 movies he could FINALLY finish watching through are Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, and Turbo! GV Marina has the movie board with the trailer on Planes which I got the cub to watch. So we can probably bring him to watch that next too!
