Thaddeus turns Two: the preps

January 31, 2013 in Uncategorized

For cub’s second birthday, we decided to outsource everything we can. We didn’t want to stress ourselves out too much since we are having two celebrations for him this year – at school for classmates and teachers, and private party for our friends!

To kick things off, I chose a theme – animals! Yep, I get to choose until the day he can tell me what he wants. I wanted a theme which I can use tigers since he’s the tiger cub at home. Thaddeus can also recognize some animals and make the animal sounds. So I thought it is quite an appropriate theme.

With the theme, I shortlisted venues like the Singapore Zoo and Amazonia. We chose Amazonia in the end because the entire place is a playground for kids. That works out well for us since most of Thaddeus’ peers are about his age or older. Any younger, they would be stuck to us parents anyway! Plus, I don’t have to worry about the weather. Singapore Zoo, on the other hand, had a minimum requirement for number of guests which was above what I had planned for.

ETSY is the best! I found everything I needed for the party here!

I’ve always preferred to give practical gifts whenever possible. Hence, for cub’s celebrations, I searched and found crayons for the kids. Matching the theme, of course!

Animal-shaped crayons made from Crayola (Etsy shop: CrayonsandCrafts)

Animal-print Muslin Bags (Etsy shop: CrimsonHollow)

Packing them in!

I found a designer to edit one of her designs to emphasize the Tiger instead of the Lion for our birthday invite.

gift tags for the party favors

name labels for our little guests

After tasting several beautiful and yummy cakes from ‘Celebrate with Cake’ last year from various parties (well, mostly PF’s!), I decided I would get them to do the kids’ birthday cakes for this year.

They were very prompt with their responses which helped greatly in the discussion on the design of the cake and cupcakes we were going to have for the parties. They were also very accommodating when I had to make alternative arrangements for kids with allergies.

So with the jungle theme in mind and after sending them the designs I had for the invites and tags, ‘Celebrate with Cake‘ came up with these:

Cupcakes for school’s party!
Glitter for the Birthday Cub’s cupcake.

Birthday cake for the Jungle Animals!

Rainbow layers on the inside

Posts on celebrations in school and Amazonia coming up in awhile!
