the accidentally pink party

July 3, 2012 in Uncategorized

We lost track of time amidst our increased parenting duties and only realized it’s going to be Teanne’s 满月 (full-month) celebration about a week before the chosen date. With the ratio being 2:2 now, the husb and I are undoubtedly more exhausted than before. The 2-hourly wake-up calls by #2 and having #1 kick us in our face every other hour during our sleep were not helping either.

Hence, we decided not to stress ourselves out further and just keep the celebration to relatives only this time. Plus, our parents and siblings can help entertain the relatives should we need to excuse ourselves when I need to nurse Teanne or when we need to put Thaddeus to bed. This worked out really well. 😉

The grandparents helped with the traditions and dolling up of the star for the day.
There you go, here is the 女主角!

Thankgod for Fox Baby which carries small newborn sizes, we managed to find some pretty (& affordable!) clothes for tiny Teanne two days before the celebration. And yes, I succumbed to all the pink. My excuse is that she’s not looking very girlie yet and will need pink clothes so that strangers won’t ask me if baby’s a boy or girl.

Since we have pink clothes for the baby girl, it naturally makes sense to have a pinkish cake for her celebration as well. At least we have a color theme!

Pine Gardens was a lifesaver too. We ordered only 2 days before the party and they have a wide variety of designs for us to choose from. Everyone loved how pretty the cake was! Thaddeus, especially loves the balloon decoration.

I would have ordered these ang ku kuehs in pink only but then, I really wanted to try a variety of flavours. These mini ang ku kuehs are so cute and taste really good. The uncle who took our order was really nice too. We were erm, very last minute with our order but he accommodated and arranged for delivery as well.

The popular flavors were peanut and salted bean. The coconut flavor was not bad either! It tastes like kueh-tu-tu, which is another of my favourite local snack.

my little family

Since we had a color theme, it only makes sense if the rest of our little family wear pink to match our little girl.

Love the cake! I had forgotten how good sleep was until Jellybean came along 🙂

Talking about strangers asking: I still had people mistaking Peanut for a boy when she was a few months old and dressed in neon pink 😉

lol! guess some strangers are bound to guess the gender wrong. i have people asking if thad is a girl cos his features are kinda girlie, despite me dressing him up in all blue.

LOL I guess they do, or sometimes they guess based in the hairstyle.

I had a storekeeper thought Peanut (2y/o) was a boy because she had really short hair (she had girly clothes on). It was funny because I haven't been asked that for a long while 😉
